Mending Hope

For Men Struggling with Sexual Addiction

About Jake

As a pre-licensed therapist, I work with men who are struggling with sexual addiction and compulsive sexual behaviors—often in silence and shame. This can take many forms: compulsive pornography use, chronic masturbation, infidelity, paying for sex, or engaging in risky or secretive sexual behaviors that conflict with your values. You may feel stuck in a cycle—making promises to yourself (or your partner) to stop, only to find yourself back in the same place again.

I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can be honest without fear of shame. With warmth and accountability, I help you explore the emotional roots of compulsive sexual behavior—whether it’s stress, trauma, or unmet emotional needs—and support you in building healthier ways to cope.

Healing from sexual addiction isn’t just about stopping a behavior—it’s about understanding yourself more deeply and building a life that’s aligned with your values. In our work together, we’ll focus on rebuilding trust (in yourself and with others), developing healthier coping strategies, and restoring intimacy and connection in your relationships.

Common Questions

  • I do not accept insurance at this time. Insurance companies require a formal mental health diagnosis in order to reimburse for therapy sessions, and many of the issues I specialize in—such as sexual addiction, compulsive behaviors, and intimacy struggles—do not have a billable diagnosis.

By working outside of insurance, I’m able to focus fully on your goals and the deeper work of healing, without the limitations or required labels that can come with insurance-based care. This allows for greater privacy, flexibility, and a personalized approach that fits your needs, not an insurance form.

  • Yes! Counseling is proven through years of research to help people manage and overcome compulsive behaviors. Therapy provides a safe space to explore what drives those behaviors, gain insight into patterns, and build new, healthier ways of coping. Real change is absolutely possible.

Counseling is a journey—one that requires honesty, vulnerability, and a willingness to grow. The process isn’t always easy, but for those who stay open and engaged, the results can be life-changing. Many clients find greater freedom, peace, and purpose as they learn to live with integrity and connection.

  • Sex addiction—also called compulsive sexual behavior—is a pattern of sexual thoughts or actions that feel out of control and lead to distress or harm in a person’s life. It’s not about sex itself, but about using sexual behavior to cope with deeper emotional pain, stress, loneliness, or shame. Over time, these behaviors can create cycles of secrecy, guilt, and disconnection from self and others.

Sex addiction can take many forms, including compulsive pornography use, affairs, or other behaviors that persist despite negative consequences. The good news is that recovery is possible. With therapy, insight, and support, men can learn to understand the roots of their addiction, develop healthier coping strategies, and rebuild a life grounded in integrity, honesty, and real connection.
